windows media player does not work

It does not play songs and when it plays videos, ones embedding in a web page or downlaoded ot ym computer, they play fast with no sound. After I opent he player sound for my computer does not work for any program until I resart.

Might have nothing to do with WMP. It all depends on the types of files you're playing and what codecs you have installed.

It happens when I try to play any type of file. Is there a way to reset all ym codecs or just re-install the player?
